The breeding instinct of most people starts from the love of pets. This is because raising, nursing and nurturing of pets could be cumbersome with divers methods on the ways breeding is carried out.

The dog business and breeding process involves different stages- Buying of the pet, the different vaccinations and admistration of drugs, choice of health officer/clinic, the actual gestation period of the pet and choice of feed at different stages of growth.

Now we are talking of dog business which could bring quite a lot of money depending on the choice of breed. There are wide range of dog breeds such as alsatians, rotweilers, mastiffs, bulldog, retreiver, rhodesian ridgeback etc. We have the pure breed and the cross breed. There are also quite a number of factors that affects the income that could be made from dog business because the prices of these breeds differ from one another.

The factors range from the source of purchase of the parent breeding dog, the feed intake, the number per litter and even the state of health as at the time of purchase. The business is such that u can make as much as you desire based on the breed.

If you have a pure breed alsatian which goes for N20,000/N25,000 a puppy, you nurture for like a year plus and you start breeding if the first litter is like 8puppies then you make 8 multiplied by N20,000/N25,000 meaning you’ll make N160,000/N200,000 from the litter provided they are well taken care off.

If you have a rotweiler puppy groomed for like minimum of 2years which goes for N60,000 a puppy. If the first litter has like 6puppies which could be more. Then you expect to make N60,000 times 6 puppies, meaning that you make minimum of N360,000 from the litter.

Your money making depends on your choice of breed and it is not limited to the bitch alone, your sturd, a male dog can give you money per mating, like N5,000/N10,000/N20,000 depending on the breed.You can also make money from boarding facility, if you have space you’ll help to take care of other people’s dogs when they are away for one reason or the other. People charge N900 per day for

boarding.

Above all you need a good vet doctor by your side and you make all the money possible. Another secret is that if well fed, your breeding dog can deliver or go into cycle twice in a year.
